First Rose Mary Barton Wilcox 9781615668519 Books Reviews
What a delightful book..."First Rose" by Mary Barton Wilcox. Subtitled Between Now and Forever. The author takes you on a yellow-brick-road journey through heaven and all it's majesty. We all have our own images of life after death; God, loved ones, our prepared place. Mary's guided tour allows our imagination to free flow through her excellent writing and splendid narratives. I don't use the word "lovely" very often, but it clearly fits here. This is a feel good book that does just that...feels good.
First Rose by Mary Barton Wilcox was a lovely book. It felt intimate and personal as I was reading it. The tone was like a friend sharing a remarkable experience. The discriptions made me long for heaven and the people who have already arrived there. Mostly, it caused me to hunger for time with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face. Thank you Mary, for putting your heart on the line for us to get a glimpse of heaven.
Elaine Littau, author of Nan's Journey
Heaven is a place we've all heard about but it always remained just outside our imagination. We read the writings of Paul and John's revelation for a glimpse but still come away unsure. Mary Barton Wilcox captures that imagination vision. First Rose transports the reader to seven levels of heaven with touch, vision, smell, and emotion. When you read the description of different places, you can understand why John used examples of what he knew then to give us a hint about what he saw. When I opened the book, all other activity became unimportant and my only interest was, what would happen next. When I finished the book, all I could say through tears of gratitude was, "What kind of love is this?"
Throughly entertaining and thought provoking, 'First Rose' by Mary Barton Wilcox. The imagery of Mary's words pull you into the story! It is a lovely journey that touches the heart and soul.It is beautifully written and each person is bound to find numerous parts that touch their hearts.
Have you ever wondered what heaven is like? Mary Barton Wilcox shares her vision of what heaven might possibly be like it such a way that it encourages the reader to open their own minds and broaden their own thoughts about heaven. God has a home for us, what will it be like? Mary takes you into one possible answer and backs up what she has written with scripture.
This would make a great adult Sunday school class discussion or a book club discussion.
